A Day in the Life - Your Stories

09.04.2020
Original language : English

'A Day in the Life .. Your Stories' began in April 2020 as lockdown was becoming a reality for many. We began to collate images for a new digital project. The collection focused around a typical day for local people navigating the COVID-19 crisis.

'A Day in the Life .. Your Stories' - was to create a digital contemporary gallery to highlights the stories of the community during this time. Those stories will also be profiled on the Museum's social media pages.

We appealed to the public - "Whether your business has closed, you're working from home, or you are one of many vital front-line service workers, we want to hear from you. If you are isolated to protect your family or are dealing with helping your children adjust to a different way of life, tell us what your typical day is like – your everyday experiences, thoughts, worries and what is important to you today.

We asked for submissions. You can do this with one simple image - a photograph or drawing or maybe through a few words.

We are currently all living through a unique point in time, and this is an opportunity for local people to record a snapshot of a historical event affecting the world. It's scary and unpredictable for all of us, but this project offers a release for people and a chance to focus on the positives – on how we are all working together to navigate this difficult period and on how we are adapting in the face of adversity.

Many images are available to view on the Tower Museums webpage www.towermuseumcollections.com
