I am Giulia, 24 years old, and I am doing my traineeship within the European Solidarity Corps framework at the European Volunteer Centre (CEV) in Brussels, Belgium. As Project and Policy offer I travel around Europe practicing solidarity everyday!
I have started my traineeship in March 2017 at the European Volunteer Centre as Project and Policy officer. I am following EU funded projects where CEV is partner and developing policies over different topics, correlated with volunteering, such as the European Solidarity Corps, the Non Formal and Informal Learning, volunteering within the refugees inclusion and support.
I am a Human Rights expert and since 2010 I am volunteering in different NGOs dealing with human rights and youth mentoring. Volunteering is for me the best way of living, we have the chance to knowing others without prejudices and with humility, offering our help for something more valuable than a personal accomplishment, that is the well-being of humanity, the development of a culture where the respect of other has the primacy.
I strongly believe in the power of Solidarity, on the creation of bridges between human beings, enhancing relationships based on respect of human dignity. I see this opportunity to develop Solidarity actions within the framework of the European Solidarity Corps as the chance to make the world better than we found it, to create a better society starting from the willingness of young people. Because we are those who have the power to change the present, to make it valuable, to create a path where future generations will walk towards a peaceful world.
Helping others, accepting and loving our differences, make us stronger and capable to big and peaceful actions, give us the chance to choose the world’s route.
Thanks to this experience, I am developing my skills and competencies for making Solidarity actions my future work, travelling a lot, learning new words from different languages, discovering new cultures, creating bridges, not only between me and other people, but also between other people. And these relationships make humanity stronger and peaceful, they make possible the creation of a world based on Solidarity. This is why Solidarity is our Strength!
